Activity: Mirror Drawing

Objective

  • How good are your art skills? For this activity you don’t need to be a budding Picasso or the next Monet, but you will need to help your partner draw a picture just as good as the one you draw.

  • Your task will be to get your partner to draw a picture that is exactly the same as yours, but they won’t get to see it. They’ll have only your verbal instructions to follow, to recreate your drawing.

  • You’ll have to use clear and accurate instructions and listen very carefully to each other to fulfil the challenge.

Instructions

1/ One learner draws a picture, making sure their partner doesn’t see it.

2/ They will explain their drawing so that their partner can draw an exact replica.

3/ Once finished, compare pictures – how close is the replica to the original?

Well done!

To complete this challenge:

  • You had to give verbal instructions that were accurate, clear and confident.

  • Your partner had to listen carefully, ask questions as needed and follow your instructions as closely as possible.

Reflect

  • What did your verbal communication have to be like to complete the challenge?

  • What happened if you were not clear, accurate and concise?

  • Why might these things also be important as a leader?
